Greetings,
Thank you for your interest and continued support of the Gwangju Tourism Organization.
As the central hub of Korea’s southwestern region, Gwangju — the City of Light — is evolving into an exciting and vibrant “fun city,” attracting 30 million urban users annually by 2026. To achieve this, we are actively promoting a series of dynamic revitalization projects that infuse the city with energy and enjoyment.
The Gwangju Tourism Organization was newly established in July 2023 through the integration of the Kimdaejung Convention Center and the Gwangju Tourism Foundation. Our mission is to realize “Exciting Gwangju, the City of Tourism.”
The word “tourism” itself carries the meaning of “seeing the light.” Just as travel brings new experiences and insights, we at the Gwangju Tourism Organization are committed to driving three major innovations to reshape the landscape of tourism in Gwangju.
First, we aim to reform the tourism structure by enhancing the operational system, improving visitor support and hospitality, and invigorating wide-area tourism across regional boundaries.
Second, to foster tourism innovation, we are focusing on developing authentic Gwangju-style tourism products and marketing strategies, promoting Gwangju as a city of festivals, establishing a stay-type tourism model through a T-MICE* platform, and nurturing local tourism enterprises.
Furthermore, we are committed to financial stability and strengthening tourism development functions, while advancing our information and communication systems — achieving operational innovation that balances both efficiency and growth.
Above all, we will cultivate an organizational culture based on mutual communication, respect, and empathy — working together as ONE TEAM to embrace change and innovation, starting with the small things.
The Gwangju Tourism Organization is proud to lead the way toward realizing Gwangju’s dream of becoming a global tourism city for the next 100 years.
Thank you.
